Hide Last Name

This component hides the last name field on the signup form, edit profile, and admin add/edit profile. On the form, the last name field is filled with a customized word in the ossn_com.php file, to avoid the need to change any validation rules. But the field is filled with blank spaces in the database to not change the structure or any other functions.

To existent OSSN instances, it's possible to execute an automatic or manual update routine (as you desire) to merge the first and last name fields in the first name. The procedure is in Hide Last Name menu, in admin panel. In any case, before any change and for safety, a backup of the database is highly recommended.

On Red Crested OSSN Sandbox its possible to see the component in action. Use demouser as login and 123456789 as password.

We need an update please

I am using that component on OSSN 7.6 and with the Component enabled, the username and the name is the same and the user cannot change it

oh and: if you do it on database OR admin panel, it works, but not on profile

The operating design of the OSSN components allows the overlapping of files. By definition, the default component index is 200. I used a value of 300 in this component to decrease the chance of conflict. Michael used a value of 1000 in the Anonymous Registration component. This means that his component overrides mine when the files have the same path and name.

I installed the component in my test environment and there was no conflict. I created a new account with "Anonymous SOME_NUMBERS" without any errors. But the logic of two name fields prevailed. As the user has a first and second name, I needed to unify these fields in the admin panel. To avoid this for each new user, it will be necessary to modify some lines of the actions/register.php file of the Anonymous Registration component.

If you buy the component, I'll support you to get it working properly.

I'm not sure why there would be a reason for this. It is a good idea.
Hiding information does not have a reason when people want a good Bio and Infomation about themselves so I don't see the point in this component, Just saying ;))
