Admin username and password showing up

Scott Blair Posted in Technical Support 8 years ago

I installed version 4.3.1 on my site on holeinthewallhosting web site hosting using softaculous. When you open the site, the username already has Admin in it and the password is already filled in. How can I get rid of it and make them blank? I uninstalled it and reinstalled with the same result.

OK thanks.

Just had a look at http://technolust.info/login and everything's fine on my side: Username and password fields are empty
As Arsalan already said: Ossn isn't remembering anything at this point - but maybe you have set your browser to remember login credentials for certain sites.

Look like if the issue is not with remember me form fields by your browser then it is something else. Ossn by default didn't save any default values of username or password. Can you simply tell us your website so we can also take a look?

Maybe I didn't explain my self properly. When I installed it, you have to give an admin name and password, which I did. I kept the username Admin, but changed the password from the default one during installation (It already has Admin and a password in it when installing it.). After I installed it, I open the site in a new tab and in the registration window, the username is already filled in with Admin and the password is also already filled in. It is not just Linux Mint, I looked at it on my Windows 10 laptop and my Ubuntu laptop and they were filled in also. I had a friend look at it on his phone and he said they were there. Although the password is masked, there are programs out there that can unmask the password.

Please follow the below reply, and make sure your browser cache is deleted.

That's normal. Unlike Windows, Unix/Linux installations behave the same - even after the 1000th re-install.

Besides that, what's your problem with having an admin account? Actually Ossn needs at least ONE admin account for adding components, changing themes, managing members, etc...

If you don't like softacolous, you may install Ossn manually (see https://www.opensource-socialnetwork.org/wiki/view/706/how-to-install-open-source-social-network) but even then creating an admin account is mandantory.
