When I post a link to my site on other social media sites like Facebook no picture is displayed.
I do have a favicon icon showing in the address bare but that's a different matter. So, here is my question, where do I place a picture/logo for it to be picked up with my link on other websites. This is not to be confused with Link Preview.

wait, sorry, I think I misunderstood your question.
to do what you want, you'll need to add what are called meta OpenGraph tags for it to be picked up by facebook's link preview thing. you can google how to do add these.
