just installed the email-notification-component and it works great!
However, are there any plans that also messages and pokes will cause a notification by email to the recipient?

Hello There, OSSN team have provided us the way to write a component for email notifications, the component will be available on our store on Monday (03/28/2016)

Looks like I must give up my plans to keep my members in good contact with my forum. Without email-notification all the members do not stay in contact with the forum and simply forget to log in. I do not understand why OSSN cannot do the same like others, like Elgg or Jcow. I am afraid without an email-notification on new posts-system I must leave OSSN soon. Very Sorry.

Everything is possible but there is no shortcut way, you have to edit core which is not a good idea, i will check if there is any to do this using component i will create it for you.
