Component Installer not accepted updates after update to 5.2

Mark Lashmar Posted in Component Development 5 years ago

Hi there,
It seems that updating the components doesn't seem to work with the latest 5.2 OSSN version.
Cant upload it at the components page.
Message: '

"Cannot upload component, make sure it is a valid package."

Not sure if there is anything that needs to be done.

Thanks guys

Hi Z

Thank you that make sense I will do that if you do not hear from me then that was the cause.
You need to delete the component before updating the new one.

Thanks for your excellent support

Mark

Ok,

I was trying to update Bio (V1.0) to Bio (V 3.0) then (V 3.1) then (V 3.5) I am unable update.
Would it be best to delete the components then try to install the updated versions?

Not sure if the data will be lost with this action,

Display Username (V1.0) to (V 1.2)
Footer Links (V1.0) to (V 2.0)
Latest Members (V1.0) to (V 2.0)
MenuBuilder (V1.0) to (V 2.0)
ProfileViews (V1.0) to (V 2.0)
System Info (V1.8) to (V 2.1)
TextareaSupport (V2.1) to (V 2.4)
TimeZone (V1.0) to (V 1.2)
Users to CVS (V3.0) to (V 5.1)

Hope this helps

Mark

Ah, I think I'm beginning to understand: The older versions are still installed - that's the problem!

You have to Delete them first, before uploading a new version.

See the instructions at the bottom (Chapter B) of page

Hi Z

For example:

Display Username 1.0 -> Display Username v1.1. (error report)
Display Username 1.0 -> Display Username v1.2 (error report)

Error Message: '

"Cannot upload component, make sure it is a valid package."

The component that needs to be updated
The error message when trying to upload the plugin

And this is for all packets I listed

Thanks

Sorry, but you did not answer my question.
So, to stay with the Bio component, I was expecting an answer like

I was trying to update Bio (old version) to Bio (new version)

Hi Z
Sorry here are all the updates that gives me the error message.

Profile Views v2.0
Textarea Support v2.4
Display Username v1.2
Footer Links v2.0
Latest Members v2.0
Menu Builder v2.0
Bio v3.5
System Info v2.1
Time Zone v1.2
Users to CVS v5.1

Those are the components that will not upload and gives the error
"Cannot upload component, make sure it is a valid package."
when trying to install them the Ossn Component Installer.

Thanks Z
