hey David Orwig, I ended up installing component HomeSlides. It was much better.
Arsalan Shah only one thing missing for me to stay happy lol.
I wanted to change the white color to # 222222

Go to your theme css file themes\default\plugins\default\css\default.php line 151-154 remove line:
box-shadow: 1px 4px 5px #333;
hey how do I remove the shadow

You can changes colors in style sheet file /themes/default/plugins/default/css/default.php
