I want to transfer my user base from HumHub to OSSN. The salt field in OSSN is shorter than for HumHub and will not accept the salt codes. Can I change the length of the salt field to a larger width without ill effects?
Maybe their method for generating hash with salt is different.
I'm not sure it's going to work. They apparently use a different hashing technique. I have OSSN installed on my localhost. I changed the salt from 8 to 30. I added a user in OSSN. Then changed the password and salt with the password and salt codes from a known password on a HumHub installation and replaced in the OSSN. Login failed.
I got to looking at the databases. HumHub uses a text field for their salt field. I've got to do some studying. Back in the day I was a whiz with databases....most especially dbase. I've got to learn MySql and relearn PHP. I think I stay busier since I retired than I was when I was working.
Thank you, sir. In the meantime can I go into my database and change the length of the salt field without disrupting the installation's files?
