How to add search bar to home topbar instead in dropdown menu.

Darry James Posted in Beginning Developers 8 years ago

Greetings!
Please, I would like to add my search bar to my topbar, so that it will be visible to all users after they logged in without being hidden in Navigation Menu!
Please how can I implement that?
I also found it difficult to locate where the topbar file is hidden. I would have done it myself.
Just simply need to find the directory where topbar were hidden.
Would be more happy if my question will be answered appropriately!
Thanks In Advance!

The component can be found in the component-section. Thanks to Arsalan Shah for the code and Zet Man for the tutorial how to upload the components.

Awesome!!
I really love here. You guyz are doing pretty well. I'm happy.
Please I need a help. How or where can I change the nav bar home color from black to a different thing.
I need where to locate the .css extension or file.
Much thanks!

I'm going to write a small 'How to publish a component' in a few minutes ...

I forgot: my question about the order in which the components were displayed has to be solved. Because when I install another component, the search-slot will be displayed after that component and that doesn´t look well.

1.) The component is, until now, a copy of the component HTML-Sidebar and I try to implement the Google Sitesearch - slot too.
2.) I don´t know, ´til now, how to publish a component. How can I upload the ZIP-File? Maybe You can send me a hint (in german language) -> [email protected]

I´am working on the mail2wall-component as well (it works for my site) but I have to learn much more on OSSN-programming before I can publish components :-)

Yeah, that looks promising, Claus. And what is still missing?

I have written a component for myself to display the search-slot as a "widget" on the right.
It´s not ready to be available in the components - section but if someone is interested: take a look at http://trading-chatroom.de/page/all/
My email can be found under http://trading-chatroom.de/site/about

Thanks to all that guided me on this.
I'm more than happy to say that I have costumized the topbar to my taste.

Felling Good.

Thanks @Shah
But after implementing the code, my whole site got blank.
That's what I had been experiencing.
Maybe I have been pasting it on a wrong code line or so.
Please can you help me with the full topbar.php
File code here? Let me copy it and replace the old one.
Please just implement the full code with the search form.
And paste it here for me to copy.
Thanks Shah.
I hope you'll help me again!!
