save it and run it from your browser. It'll display a lot of stuff - the interesting part is the Loaded Modules section for now ...

Yes. The only thing that is red is MOD_REWRITE.

I'm just asking because if you're getting a "configuration directory not writeable", too,
then this can be an inherited issue because the installer is unable to write the .htaccess file.

But back to your last question. You are not sure whether mod_write is enabled on your machine or not. So, here's a screenshot to show you how it looks like if it IS enabled.
