Support for SVG in Opensource Social Network

As we all know SVG are usually small in size and more over they can render animation, so I personally fell OSSN should have a native SVG support.

Sorry,
but if the SVG is only used to display an embedded gif, I don't need that extra code around but can upload that gif separately.

Anyway, the latest TextAreaSupport component DOES enable the TinyMCE Editor to support SVG. That is you may use SVGs in Blogs, Bio, etc. - more support will not be available in the near future.

Okay. A svg file with a base64 encoded gif image inside.
And what should we learn from that?

I am including two different types of images which I use to use in a group one is a svg image where as other one is a gif image, what I found is the issue with the picture quality with the gif image and I believe this will not impact the quality in the svg image part.

Yes you are correct normally people prefer to use raster images rather than vector image in day to day, but I prefer to share some of the vector images on our network, so I was thinking if OSSN could support vector images then it can help me to share my images on the network and I'll prefer to use a vector image as my website logo too.

Hmm ... honestly this doesn't make too much sense to me.
I agree: svgs can be of real help to create interesting effects on websites or maybe even pepping up your bio or blog, but on a newsthread? Todays people are used to make a quick shot with their smartphone and posting it a minute later. That's the normal workflow.

Thanks Zetman for this information, I was expecting a more linear adaptation of the file format from the front-end as a image type in the news feeds section.

Install TextareaSupport 2.2 - and you'll be able to enter SVG code via
Tools -> Source Code

Currently working with all components that are TextareaSupport based:

  • Bio
  • Blog
