Adding genders and hiding real names

Mick Dawlings Posted in Technical Support 11 months ago

I have a site where users should be relatively anonymous.
This that sign up should not ask for first and last name, just the alias they would like to be known as.
Of course the rest too such as email, password, gender, optional phone number as some like to be verified using number of email.

I also need more genders but all I can find this is 4 year old component.

Yes, I've been using Google a lot but don't always know the exact terms I should be looking for.

Sometimes, you have to get the right set of words otherwise you find little. I often try Google before posting.
Often my wife can find something using slightly different words while we're both searching on our computers :).

Thanks for the links you've shared. Those might help.

Again, my only concern being, that's a lot of components. From what I've seen, you are pretty quick at updating the ones your team puts out so maybe the concern is minimal.

It kinda does what I need but it still shows the real names which is what I want to remove. I'd like to show the username only and allow the user to change that as well.

I'm not sure what the 'gender component' is? Is there a gender component and I haven't found it?

The gender component works with mysite. Also people don;t have to put in there real names

Nice, thank you.

It says 'This component/theme doesn't work with the latest OSSN version" but I think you've told me before that sometimes it's because the author doesn't update the component version compatibility.
Since you show it to me, then I assume it's fine for our current version.

Question.

When I see that message, is there something else that can tell me if it's compatible or not?

I don't know but I imagine the site is looking at the versioning inside the package to decide if it should install it or not. If there any chance it might install an outdated component that doesn't work then leave the code in the components directory? Meaning, should I manually clean that up if this happens or does part of the install also leave garbage in the db?

Premium Version

Due to the many requests in the past for additonal features and components we have decided to develope a premium version. Features like Hashtags, Videos, Polls, Events, Stories, Link Preview, etc included in it.
